I spent 2 fantastic weeks in La Coccinella in Augost. On the first morning we were surprised to be invited to breakfast up at the owners' house - they had put out a great spread.....breads/cakes/cereals and bacon....all topped off with gallons of wonderful coffee. But this was not to be a one-off - we were invited EVERY morning as it's included in the price! Occasionally we skipped the option - letting the family know the evening before.....all very relaxed and very, very italian. The pool and grounds are very well kept and spacious. You will NEVER tire of the views down the valley. The kitchen/loo are simple and functional....but the bedrooms are genuinely spacious and comfortable....a huge double bed dominated ours. I would recommend La Coccinella whole heartedly....and my 8 yr old never once touched the playstation, such was the allure of the table football...big pool....big grassy garden. You will also return to Cortona, the local village, many times - it's a real pleasure. Pete Carroll, Murcia, España 2008 |

We stayed in La Coccinella for 2 weeks 16th - 30th August 2008.
Our family group consisted of two parties, one from Scotland and one from Spain, so the separate accommodations were ideal; both are identical apart from the upstairs apartment (The Rose) whose kitchen which has an extra window. This might sound like a small point but when you open the windows in the morning and let the sunlight through, it makes a big difference - it is simply gorgeous.
In fact, the whole villa is absolutely lovely. The kitchens are fairly small, but clean and functional. The bedrooms and bathrooms are identical and very comfortable and spacious. The gardens, the pool, the pergola are fantastic and well maintained. The surprise table football game was also a real hit with all the family.
However, I cannot descibe how simply breaktaking the location is / views are; the surrounding countryside / hills are green and picture perfect. Photos cannot possibly due it justice. In particular, the views from the pergola, looking down a choice of endless valleys, are stunning.
Never having visited Tuscany before, I was taken by its sheer beauty. Cortona is a 20 minute drive away and is stunning. Just below this is Camucia where you can buy all your groceries etc. Firenze is about 90 mins away. Similar distances, and worth visiting, are Perugia, Assisi and Gubbio. San Gimignano is about 120 mins away.
Getting back to villa, La Coccinella is owned by a lovely family who are very friendly and often supplied us with fresh, home-grown vegetables and wine from their vineyard. They are very keen to ensure your stay is an enjoyable one. My thanks go to them for such a memorable holiday. The local restaurant mentioned in their website is also worth trying.
I thoroughly recommend La Coccinella to anyone considering a stay here. |

We were just for a week in La Coccinella. Too short because it was like paradise! Charming, convenient and very cleen appartements, a super swimming pool, a phantastic view and above all: silence. With all our greetings to the hospitable and very sympathetic family Pacchi. We come again!
